Class Enrollment
Students will be enrolled in a class that will be based on their age and ability. Students currently enrolled are assessed prior to June Recital for advancement to the next level. New students will be placed according to age and stated experience, then assessed in first three class sessions to ensure proper placement.
Attire
Students in Level A and up are expected to wear a leotard and tights to class, as well as bringing appropriate shoes for their classes.
All Hip Hop students are expected to wear comfortable shoes and loosely fitted clothing (i.e. tennis shoes, t-shirts, shorts, sweats, etc.). No logos may be worn that promotes alcohol, cigarettes, profanity, or sexually suggestive.
All creative movement students may wear comfortable clothing or leotards and tights with ballet shoes.
All dancewear will be ordered through the studio.
Students who believe they may be hard to fit may want to purchase their shoes through a local dancewear store. (BE SURE YOU KNOW WHICH STYLE/ COLOR WE WILL BE USING FOR CLASS.)
We will only re-order once for students whose sizing was initially incorrect.
Performances
Christmas Show Date: Dec. 1, 2012 Recital Date: May 18, 2013
Performing for an audience is an important part of the dancers’ experience. All students are expected to perform in our annual Christmas Show and Year end Recital in June. Tentatively we plan to hold all planned performances at The Hernando Performing Arts Center, located on the Hernando High School campus. If, for some reason your dancer is unable to participate in either performance, please let us know ASAP. We use partners and formations that depend upon the full participation of each dancer. The sooner we are made aware of a planned performance absence, the better for our other performers.
Other opportunities may arise through the year. These will be optional and announced as we become aware. (i.e. 2012 Redbirds performance)
